Research Support- Manage References with Endnote X9

Adding Reference from Databases

  • Use the Chrome browser on your computer
  • Find  PubMed on the Library's e-resources page and connect to the database
  • Enter a basic search (e.g. Migraine prevention) to find some articles 
  • When the results are listed, check the boxes beside the papers that you want
  • Click on Send to ( towards top right-hand corner of screen)
  • Select Citation manager as destination and select Create File 
  • The file will appear in the bottom left-hand side of your screen.
  • Click on the downloaded file and it will automatically open up in your EndNote Library

 

  • Use the Chrome browser on your computer
  • Find Medline/ CINAHL Plus with Full Text on the Library's E-resources page and connect to the database
  • Enter a search (e.g. Migraine prevention) to find articles 
  • When the results are listed, check the folder icon beside the papers that you want. (right-hand side of the paper)
  • Click on Folder ( towards top right-hand corner of screen)
  • You should see all your selected articles
  • Check any article whose reference you want to send to EndNote
  • Click Export (right-hand side of screen)
  • Ensure that Direct Export in RIS Format has been selected
  • Click Save
  • The file will appear in the bottom left-hand side of your screen
  • Click on the downloaded file and it will automatically open up in your EndNote Library

1. Open the EndNote Library into which you want to import references.
2.  Access ScienceDirect database from the Library E-resources page.

3. Perform a search.

4. Choose references to export

  • To export individual references click on the references you want to export and click export citations
  • To export all the retrieved references do not click on any references, just click export

      
5. Click on export citation to RIS
6. Click on downloaded RIS, it will automatically open in EndNote or use file import option.
  1. Run your search in Cochrane Library.
  2. Mark each of the references by placing a ckeck in the box, for those you wish to move to EndNote, then click on Export Selected Citations [or all results if you prefer]

3. Select Export type

4. Depending upon your computer the references may export directly, or you may see a text file downloaded.

 5. Import the file using Cochrane Library as filter.

1.  Log in to Scopus from library Research Guides page and do your search.

2. Select the citations that you want to export out into EndNote.

3. Click on RIS export, to export selected reference to endnote.

4. Click on the downloaded RIS file, it will open up in EndNote imported references automatically.

5. If not imported automatically, go to file - import option.
